Trip Paw-dvisor Review: Miller Black Dog Bed and Breakfast, St. Charles, MO

"Great spot for a "surprise" getaway"

Well, I must admit that my sister and I did not plan for our "vacation getaway," but nonetheless we found ourselves at the lobby of the Miller Black Dog Bed and Breakfast in St. Charles, Missouri.

Check in was quick and easy; absolutely no line and the staff was very prepared and inviting. My sister Sapphire was a bit hesitant at first because of how slippery the fine 1980's style tile flooring in the lobby was, but the staff quickly rolled out the red carpet for us. Literally. It was the simple touches such as this that really made the experience second to none.
The decor was pleasant; hipster-chic with a perfect blend of old and new. Re-purposed fixtures and modern amenities made our stay feel midwest-cozy while still being equipped with all the technology that we're accustomed to.
The sleeping arrangements were superior. While we like to bring our own bedding, there were two additional top-of-the-line memory foam beds for us to park our fart motors in. But the "meilleur de tous" was the large above ground bed, fully equipped with two warm humans for us to fart, I mean, sleep in between all night. It's hard to find a more comfortable place for a pup to take a long winter's nap, even with the other guests being just a bit odd.

The food was simply perfection. All the fine dining a doggy could imagine, complete with tuna, mashed potatoes, plain rice, kibble, and boiled hamburger meat, all prepared fresh every night. Magnifique!

The entertainment was a bit lacking, I must say. All that seemed to be on offer was hockey, hockey, hockey, and Star Wars. We made do at first, but really came around to it. Sapphie now has even learned to pass gas perfectly synchronized to the "Let's! Go! Blues!" chant.

The views were quite fetching as my sister and I loved to watch the morning birds out the front window. There seemed to be just enough going on in the neighborhood to enjoy keeping an eye on it and barking at the occasional passerby. All of the front windows are just the perfect height for a pup to take in the lovely scenery.

The options for outdoor recreation did leave us a tad underwhelmed as the single digit temperatures for much of our stay kept us from venturing far. As the weather warmed, we got out and explored and enjoyed the close proximity to some friendly parks and trails. We might have seen more, however the kind gentlemen also staying at the inn offered to show us around, and they seemed to stop every ten feet to lift their leg. They certainly meant well.

The staff and other guests were very warm and welcoming and we really bonded during our stay. We made lasting memories, and friends, and really enjoyed relaxing and resting on our vacation.

OVERALL PROS
Quaint accommodations, beautiful scenery, delicious restaurant, luxurious sleeping options, impeccable staff

OVERALL CONS
Must love HOCKEY and STAR WARS, sometimes have to squeal to remind staff that stairs are hard

We highly recommend any doggies looking for a nice, comfortable vacation away from home to stay at the Miller Black Dog Bed and Breakfast in St. Charles, MO. You will not be sorry!
